In the Seventies he realized Spiller Residence in Venice (California) and his own house in Santa Monica (1978) which is cover with metal leaves and cages in wire.
Gehry eplores new shapes and new material respect to the traditional architecture.
With this buildings he starts to use humble materials, such as iron net, wires and plates, mould in eccentric shapes.
In the followoing decade he mainly express his creativity abroad, and in the early 1990s the introduction of sophisticated computer software has facilitated the construction and engineering of complex building systems and successfully translated the gestural quality of his work from model to built form. In particular from 1991 and 1997 he realized his best known work the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Bilbao (Spain).
This building does not simply represent a place which contains art works, it is itself an art work with his covering in leaves of titanium and his sinuous lines.
Beside of these projects, we cannot consider other amazing architectures, suche as the Walt Disney Concert Hall of Los Angeles, the DG Bank building, inPariser Platz and the Dancing house in Praguela Casao, currently seat of the Dutch National Offices.
Gehry won several prices of Architecture Prize, such as the l'Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize in Architettura of the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1977 and the Pritz 1989.
In 1999 he receives the gold medal by the American Institute of Architects.
