OUT OF DARKROOM

Chi Contemporary Fine Art is excited to announce the opening of their spring season with "Out of the Darkroom" an exhibition by the photographers of Kelton labs.
Kelton labs is the prominent black and white printing lab in NYC and one of the few in the USA. This show by five of the Kelton Lab photographers will illustrate why the lab has become the lab for printing exhibition prints. "Out of the Darkroom" opens February 12 and runs through March 12, 2007 with a public reception on February 17th from 6-9pm. As usual the show will run at Ch'i's Williamsburg Brooklyn location: 293 Grand St. between Havemeyer and Roebling Sts. Exhibition hours are Thur - Sun 11:30 am - 8pm , Mons. 9am - 5pm and Tues or Wed. by appointment.

The Kelton Photographers

Kelton labs was founded by Chuck Kelton. Chuck Kelton, the crème de la crème of printers, is the owner of Kelton Labs in NYC. For the last two decades Kelton has worked as a master printer for exhibitions and advertising campaigns for leading photographers worldwide.
When not in the darkroom, Kelton teaches at the International Center of Photography as well as workshops throughout the country. The "Out of the Darkroom" exhibition will include never before seen photograms by Chuck Kelton along with works by Gerald Mocarsky, Leslie Sheryl, Jimmy Serkoch and Shelton Walsmith. Each of these photographers have spent time working at Kelton Labs with Chuck on the myraid exhibition photographs sent in for them to print.
All five photographers, Shelton Walsmith, Jimmy Serkoch, Leslie Sheryl, Gerald Mocarsky and Chuck Kelton bring a depth of thought and technique to the tradition of shooting and printing black and white photography. In the "Out of the Darkroom" exhibition, they will be exhibiting photographs using old camera formats such as the pinhole and the box camera as well as the oldest form of photography Though using some of the oldest techniques they are exhibiting modern subject matter in the series chosen for the exhibtiion.
In "Out of the Darkroom", saranno dei fotografi che esporranno usando i formati delle vecchie macchine fotografiche. Nonostante venga usata una delle più antiche tecniche, i soggetti scelti per la mostra rimandano alla vita moderna.
