A LITERARY PARK

For a long time the area of the seaplane station, where Pier Paolo Pasoilini was barbarically murdered, fell into a state of deterioration and the ravages of time. Recently the scene of the murder has been restored but it could become a place of real cultural importance when transformed into a literary park dedicated to the memory of Pier Paolo Pasolini. Literary Parks, started officially in 1994 with a decree by the Ministry of Beni Culturali, which approved an initiative taken by the family of Ippolito Nievo who, wishing to honor the memory their illustrious relative, created a park, or a place where nature and history could frame the literary activities of Nievo, in a poetic climate. The literary parks are physical and mental spaces that have gathered and absorbed the experience of the author and that have interacted with him. Pasolini , was a free man who gave so much to culture and Italian society in socially critical and politically fragile years. Notwithstanding this, his memory has been relegated to dark corners of the city, almost a testimony to the moralistic shame of every political color, which recognized the cultural value of the man but was not able not to marginalize the memory of his death, having tried to censor his words when living. The seas plane station of Ostia is the place of witness for him who was a prophet of our times, and the chosen place for the future Parco Letterario Pier Paolo Pasolini.

With this initiative we wish to enhance the area of the seaplane station creating that kind of stable relationship which is a meeting point between nature and culture. It could also be a place for enhancing the economy, tourism, and guarding of the environment, the whole focused by the memory of celebrated artist who has given innumerable works of cultural social and worldwide panorama. For this reason I have presented an order of the day in the Consiglio provinciale, so That it is stipulated of the convention with the foundation Ippolito Nievo, and it proceeds to the planning of the Parco Letterario which could invest also the tower of San Michele, so creating an ambiental and cultural course worthy of international attention. The signing of the agreement between the Provincia di Roma and the Fondazione Ippolito Nievo for the planning of the park both demonstrates that there is a different way of appreciating tourism, to create jobs, and relaunch an economy which is safeguards the ambience, combining the development of the territory with the environmental heritage. Finally, I wish to thank local the cultural associations which have collaborated, working to developed the area at their own expense.
