Franco Adami, born in Pisa in 1933, lived and worked in Paris and Pietrasanta, in the Meremma of Tuscany. He studied at the School of art of Cascina, the Academia di Belle Arti di Firenze and the Ecole des Peaux-arts de Paris, while he earned a living as restorer of antique furniture.
Between 1960 and 1970 he worked in wood, material then simple to find and sculpt: these years correspond to a period of research in the development of his work and, notwithstanduing his movement towards contemporary art -- in particular Moore and Zadkine -- his work remained figurative.In France he had his first exhibition, when in 1976 he participated for the first time at the "Salon des Realities Nouvelles".
His first personal exhibition was at Pisa in 1977 at the Centroartemoderna. Not to be forgotten,however, is his participation in 1978 and 1980 at the Biennal of Brest. After the exhibitions "Automme Italien" at Chambery, at the B.R.O. at Vendome and a personal exhibition at the Gallery Mitkal of Abidjan in 1979, Adami had, in 1981, a personal show at the "Centre Culturel des Arches" of Cambrai, at the International Exhibition of Sculpture at Strasburg and at the Premio Fernand Dupre for sculpture at Cholet.
Then there was his personal at the Musee Antoine Lecuyer di Saint Quentin in in 1983. And exhibitions "Contemporary Sculpture " at the Cultural Centre of Villedieu in 1984 and 1985, at the Municipality of Mantes-la-jolie and at Rouen for Unicef. In I986 he exhibited for the first time at Massa Carrara, that is, at Montagnoso and at the castle of Malaspina; the he is present at Cholet, Collioure and Bourget and Ile de France aux Ulis.
In 1987 came the exhibition at the Museum Theodor-Zink of Kaiserslautem, at the museum of Maubeuge, in the Triade di Barbizon Gallery, at the Gallery K of Paris where he receives the Prize for Sculpture of the French Foundation. In I988 he exhibits in various important galleries in Paris and Toulouse at the Gallery of Jenifer Pelle. In I989 Adami is in Gineva, and again at the Gallery K in Paris, then in Nice in 1990; he exhibits in 1991 for the first time in the U.S.A., at the Arreghi Gallery of Miami and, in the same year, at Istamboul, Seoul, Evereux; in 1992 he exhibits in various French cities, again in Paris, Gineva, Amsterdam . In 1993 he travels tirelessly through France; he is in Paris and Pietrasanta then to exhibit in different areas of France, in Belgium, Amsterdam and Cologne in 1994 - 1996. "Les artistes Naturalistes", "Les Bestiare" di Franco Adami " and "S.A.G.A." are three important appointments with the sculptor in Paris,That year marks a typiccaly French period for him, in 1997.

In 2001 Adami is at the Veranneman Foundation in Kruishoutem, at the Aia and the Beirut Fair; he particpates at Start 2002 in Strasbourg, exhibits at the Lancraaf in Laren and Capazza a Nancai.
In 2004 he is at the Centre Cambronnne, at Nantes; he presents his personal show " The force of nature" at the Parco La Versiliana a Marina di Pietrasanta; he is at the Gallery Piretti at Knokke Le Zouite and at the Gallery Goinard of Paris . In 2005 he is a personal itinerant "Franco Adami, Itineraires sculptures"at Metz-Koksijde-Camaiore. In October 2006 he is in Rome with his show, ""L'Arte Animalier" at the headquarters of B.M.W. He has realised over the years some monumental works, like that in the residence of the President of the Republic of the Ivory Coast at Abidjan, for the court of honour of the Presidency of the Republic of Togo at Pya, a Monument to Peace at Lome, also in Togo. One of his statures is found at Camaiore, while his great statue in bronze "The judgment of the Minataur" has been placed at the entrance to the "Piccola Atene degli artisti at Pietrasanta.
