Biografia

Pierre -Yves Le Duc, of Italian origin, was born in France 1964. He attends Italian courses at the Faculty of Literature at the Sorbonne where he graduates in 1988. In the same year he transfers to Naples, a city which fascinated him, where his artistic career begins.
In the beginning he lives with the signs of contrast and the discovery of the richness of this city.
In 1989 he completes his first work, but it is only in 1992, after meeting Alfredo Bovio di Giovanni, that he decides to dedicate himself totally to art.
?For his complicated installations the place is inseparable from the work that takes shape there, the distance between the space, and the work is reduced to an ineluctable and essential meeting point
In 1994: his first ppearance in public. He chooses Piazza San Domenico as site for his 'Cenacle' - 13 canvases's each one representing a gigantic vagina (180cms. X180cms.). The canvases are positioned circularly around a phallic totem or Baroque obelisk.
The study continued in May 1995, with enormous anatomic particulars of penetration (18 sheaths 188X 388cm) suggesting a volcanic eruption. 'The nine museums and nine poets',a monumental hemicycle planned for Piazza del Plebiscite, meets with political censure.
In December 1996, he descends into the depths of a Greco- roman aqueduct in order to install a work entitled 'I quaranta ladroni' (The Forty Thieves), forty one monoliths positioned in a maze symbolizing the same number of vaginas and a synthesis of female bodies, as an expression of vanity in the clutches of death represented by a filigree of skeleton.
?In December 1998, with 'Medium' in Lazzaretto of Naples, he launches a sort of installation that sees the perfect fusion of a work of art with space.

"If I have to to talk about my emotions in regarding my job, I would begin with something similar to the excitement of the moment where I have the IDEA. Regrettably this pleasure quickly becomes modified by rationality; I must verify the validity of its potential curiosity.
This IDEA could remain undeveloped for a few years along with the others, if they are not botched in time, if its validity has been conserved, I will go to the second phase: the REALIZATION."

"Even here the pleasure that I could feel becomes dampened by various circumstances: the limits of material, time of realization and finally but not least the cost.
From here on all my energy is focused on obtaining the maximum potential expressivity: possible thoughts, emotions absorbed become fuel.
In reality I don?t have any particular emotions when my work is completed, not even after I donate my opera to the public.
I am not tied to the gifts I give or to what has caused me great sacrifice.
It?s only the moment of conception and not the birth that gives me emotion: I can see a ROAD that will allow me to fix my objective, the entire path to be discovered?..until the transformation; a path indicated by intuition, from the imagination that will take me into an unknown place in my mind.
My only emotion: when I sense that my visual potential is amplified."
