This awful vision affects her so deeply that, for fear of losting her life, she prefers to cooperate with her jailors, by prostituting herself . In this way she betrays the other Jewish prisoners.
Nicole becomes a Kapò, a guardian who is forced to give orders to her camrades. But one day another group of prisoners arrives at the concentration camp. They come from different countries and Nicole falls in love with a Russian, Sasha.
Thanks to this love she saves the lives of Sasha and the other prisoners by sacrificing her own life.
