"It was the mystery that firs made me paint. Can I actually display my thoughts onto something physical and tangeable? The process is most important. It’s a need to explore many realms within your mind, spirit and materials.
Documenting this can be both a pleasurable and daunting experience. When a painting is exhausted from any more resources within its integrity, the title merely symbolizes its completion for public viewing. Only then can I move again to create another one".

A fulltime artist, Pelka was born in 1973 in Cleveland, OH. He currently works out in his studio in Brooklin, NY.
Eric Pelka’s work is influenced by the portrayal of unexpected feelings from our conscious and subconscious minds. His influences stem from an early young age in his birthtown of Cleveland, Ohio.A self-taught artist he also studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1992 when he came to live in New York city.
Eric Pelka’s work is composed from the cumulative of every given moment exploring intuitively these emotional realities and documenting on surfaces created with mixed media.
It’s a process of layering a range of materials varifying from acrylic,ink, pastel marker and pencil onto canvas, paper, glass and recently light boxes derived from illustrations portrayed to acatae -these pieces are intended to entartain through empathy of the human condition- a "collage assemblage" where the contrast and integration between nature and urban life meet.
The artist has had solo exhibitions in Hiroshima, Tokio and New york City "Lands, Ladies lads & Lore" a multimedia benefit for the New York foundation of Arts (NYFA).
