From Bogota one arrives at the chocano Uraba region facing the Caribean Sea after almost a day travelling by bus. The first tract as far as Medellin is quite comfortable , on what the locals optimistically call a motorway, then there is almost ten hours along a narrow lane winding among green hills of banana trees and coffee trees which makes the landscape even more exotic. The goal is Turbo, a chaotic city on the banks of the River Arrato. From the river port, where most of the economic activity of the zone is concentrated, motorboats also leave for Capurgana, one of the last Colombian villages on the boundary with Panama.
